Timeline of Known History

A clean reference chronology of the First Age, the Collapse, the current era, and the events that lead toward the Gathering.

Dating Note

Dates before the Collapse are approximate, drawn from Vorrath’s account as preserved in Sable Dunmore’s records. Current-era dates are organized around the known events of the series.

The First Age

The age before the world forgot itself — when the Drevari moved openly and memory still held the world together.

FA ~14,000
Vorrath is born. The First Age stands at its height. The five known races exist in early forms, and the Drevari move openly through the world.
FA ~3,000
Elvish scholars begin documented attempts to extend access to Drevari memory beyond what is freely offered. The vel-iss period begins.
FA ~1,000
Human involvement in vel-iss escalates. Techniques are developed to extract kallite from living Drevari bodies.
FA ~500
The rupture created by vel-iss becomes structurally significant. The Drevari begin withdrawing. Vorrath chooses the Karath Range.

The Collapse

The world does not end. It loses its relationship to its own past.

FA ~300
The Collapse severs the world’s relationship to its own past. Within three generations, the First Age is no longer remembered.
~2,800 BCE
Permanent human settlements begin in what will become Valdenmoor. Official histories later present this period as the beginning of civilization.
~800 BCE
Elvish scholars produce survey records of the Karath Range. These records later become important when compared against Breck’s maps.

The Current Era

Civilization rebuilds on incomplete foundations. Archives grow, empires rise, and old truths are managed into silence.

~300 CE
The Aldenmere Empire acquires the Heartstone. Within a generation, it is integrated into imperial trade and weather management.
~450 CE
The Quiet Ledger is formalized by an earlier Curator of Continuance. Records-management becomes institutional.
~510 CE
Thessaly Vorn is born at Vel Tharun.
~695 CE
Sable Dunmore is born in the Wrenvale Isles.
~720 CE
Thessaly Vorn publishes her proto-Veranthi paper. It is removed from the Archive within six months, and she is expelled.

The Events of the Series

The hidden past begins to surface through one tablet, one record-keeper, and a company that keeps following the thread.

~726 CE
Sable Dunmore finds the stone tablet in his uncle’s flooded basement in Ashfen. The events of Book I begin.
~726–727 CE
The quest begins. Five companions, one impossible tablet, and a mountain that has been waiting.
~728 CE
The long road home leads further than any map shows.
~729 CE
What comes next is what the world has been forgetting how to do for three thousand years.
The timeline is not just a record of dates. It is a record of what the world could still hold onto — and what it nearly lost.
